Sant Joan 2026 in Barcelona: Verbena, Fireworks & The Best Night of Summer

Hey Barcelona crew! 🔥🎆

Sant Joan is back — the night Barcelona stops being a city and turns into one giant beach party. Bonfires, fireworks at midnight, coca de Sant Joan with cava, and zero one going home before sunrise. If you've never done it, you're about to find out why locals consider it the best night of the year.

Sant Joan 2026 — Tuesday, June 23rd 🌙

This year Sant Joan falls on a Tuesday night → Wednesday morning (Wed June 24th is a public holiday in Barcelona, so yes, you can absolutely stay out till sunrise).

We're hosting the international crew at EL SARAU — 5 minutes from Barceloneta beach. The plan is simple, structured, and built so you don't end up wandering the beach alone trying to find your group at 2am 😅

Here's the full night, hour by hour:

🥂 20:00 — Welcome at El Sarau Coca de Sant Joan + cava on us. You taste the tradition the way it's supposed to be tasted, with the right people.

🍽️ 20:30 onwards — Cena prèvia At your own pace. Drinks and tapas at venue prices. Easy way to get to know the group before the chaos begins.

🚶 23:00 — We walk to the beach together 5 minutes to Platja de la Barceloneta as a group. No one gets lost. No one ends up somewhere weird.

🎆 00:00 — Fireworks + bonfires on the beach The big moment. The sky goes off, the beach goes wild, and you're right in the middle of it with your international crew.

🎶 Late night — Tail back at El Sarau We come back to El Sarau. Music, dancing, drinks, everyone still in motion till close. Or onwards to a club if the night keeps pulling.

Warm-up weekend (June 20-22)

Sant Joan is the climax, but the weekend before is already heating up:

  • Sat June 20 — Networking Brunch at OGHAM (13:00) → Saturday Scene at D9 Aribau (20:30)
  • Sun June 21 — Sunday Social Event & Live Music at OGHAM (19:00)
  • Mon June 22 — Language Exchange at La Pecera del Pool (19:00) → MOONDAY at Costa Breve (23:30)
  • Tue June 23 — SANT JOAN PARTY @ EL SARAU 🔥🎆

Stack as many or as few as you want. Sant Joan is the headline — the rest is the build-up.

First Sant Joan? Quick crash course:

Sant Joan = the Catalan summer solstice festival. The shortest night of the year, except nobody sleeps. Bonfires symbolize burning the old to welcome the new. Fireworks because Catalans love fire. And coca de Sant Joan with cava is the food + drink pairing you have to try at least once.

Imagine New Year's Eve, but on the beach, with better weather, more firecrackers, and the whole city out at the same time. Yeah. It's that good.

Survival tips from someone who's done this many times:

  • Bring a light jacket — beach gets chilly at 4am, and you WILL be there
  • Eat properly before — the night is long, sangria is sneaky
  • Coca de Sant Joan + cava = tradition you cannot skip. We've got it covered at El Sarau
  • Wear comfortable shoes — there will be walking and dancing
  • Book your spot now — Sant Joan is the night every international student in Barcelona wants in on. Don't be the one trying to find a plan at 22:00 on June 23rd

Why El Sarau?

Because picking a venue 5 minutes from the fireworks beats fighting for a spot on the sand at 19:00 just to "save it." We get the structured pre + the front-row beach moment + the post-fireworks tail without the anxiety. You spend zero time stressing about logistics and 100% of the time enjoying the night.

So... you in?

You can do Sant Joan the tourist way (lost on the beach, no group, missing the best moments) OR you can join us at El Sarau for the international Barcelona experience.

We've got the venue, the coca, the cava, the walk to the beach, and the people. All we need is you.

Want in? Register on our Sant Joan event page and let's make 2026 legendary.

Spots are limited. Sant Joan is the biggest night — book early.

See you at El Sarau 🔥🎆

Sara

P.S. The fireworks start at midnight sharp. Don't be the one stuck in a taxi 🚖
